It's really simple. There is no additional cost to register as it's FREE to members of the NRLA, you just pay for any additional 3rd party services like advertising or referencing you need.
To use the service, you must be an NRLA member (an account holder, not an associate), who has a current subscription. You must also have agreed to have agreed to the Portfolio Terms & Conditions, you did this when you first accessed the service
Please note that you will not be able to access NRLA Portfolio if your NRLA membership lapses but if it does, we will retain your data for a year.
Advertising a property using NRLA Portfolio
In order to advertise or create a tenancy using NRLA Portfolio we need to verify your identity and also verify your right to advertise the property.
How do you carry out the verification?
We will need to check your identity and also proof of ownership or interest in the property before you will be able to advertise the property for rent or create a tenancy.
To verify your identity we need you to upload 1 ID document and 1 Proof of Address (landlords address) document:
Acceptable Photo ID |
Valid Photo Driving Licence (This will count as both ID and Proof of Address, providing the address is current) |
Passport |
Acceptable Proof of Address |
Utility Bill (dated in the last 3 months) |
Council Tax Bill - If usual address in England, Wales or Scotland (dated in the last 12 months) |
Valid Photo Driving Licence |
Current Mortgage Statement (dated in the last 12 months) |
Bank or Building Society Statement or Passbook (dated in the last 3 months) |
Rate Bill - If usual address in Northern Ireland (dated in the last 12 months) |
Tenancy Agreement - current residential tenancy agreement |
We then also need to check that you are the owner of the property you wish to advertise/create a tenancy for. Please note that if you are not the owner of the property you cannot advertise the property through NRLA Portfolio.
To verify your ownership of the property we need you to upload one of the following documents:
-
Title deeds
-
Land registry documents
-
Mortgage statement
-
Letter/attachment confirming exchange and/or completion
-
Signed solicitors letter
What happens next?
Once we have received notification that you have uploaded the required documents, our Support Agents will be notified and they will verify what you have provided. If they have any questions or can see a problem then they will contact you to resolve the issue. If all the documents and information have been accepted you will receive email confirmation.
What if I am new to being a landlord?
As an NRLA member you will have access to all of our documents and guides, the NRLA Landlord Support telephone line and training courses that can lead to you becoming an Accredited landlord.
